Topologies

Topology - The layout of a network.

Star topology - A type of network topology where all devices are connected to a central switch which controls the network

Mesh topology - A network topology where very device is directly or indirectly connected to every other without a central switch or server 

Peer-to-peer - Network in which all the computers are of equal status.

Client–server - Network in which the server computers provide services for the client workstations.

Client - A device which requests data from a server 

Server - A device which provides services from other devices (clients) e.g. file storage, web pages, printer access
